Punched cards
The date and time is printed on the card. It is not useful for any other purpose like an identity card. All the data has to be manually reckoned

Bar Coded Cards
The readers can be connected to EM locks or turnstiles and access will be provided only to authorized personnel. Log of the personnel entering restricted areas is also maintained.

Optical Readers
S.C.Readers with printer attached can dispense coupons. A preset number of meals or refreshments can be stored on the card. Every time the student uses the card, this value can be decremented and the transaction is stored on the reader. This eliminates the keeping track of accounts and all the related paperwork.

Magnetic Stripe Cards
When the cards are shown to the SCRs, they store the identity number, date and time on the reader. This eliminates the time taking process of marking the attendance redundant. The back end software, Manmeter will generate all the necessary reports. The attendance data can be interfaced with other software like payroll, personnel management and leaves.

Proximity Cards
The Library can store the details of the books taken and the charges for the same.

SMART CARDS
These cards are recognized by the information stored on the card. Contact type and contact less cards are available in this category. They have a micro controller inside the cards. Replication of these cards is very difficult. These are ideal for high secure applications. Example of contact type is Sim Card or a petro card. The contacts tend to get spoilt on constant usage. The ideal choice would be contactless smart cards. They can be used for multiple applications as mentioned in the overview.
