An Overview

Smart cards can store information on them. These cards can be detected from a distance. The objective of using smart cards is to make transactions simpler and convenient. These cards can be used for various applications, mentioned below.

IDENTITY
In their simplest form, SC can be used to replace identity cards. The information of the employee is stored on the card, which can be changed when required. Hence they can be reused. The information can be rewritten one million times and they can at least last for 10yr.

ACCESS CONTROL
The readers can be connected to EM locks or turnstiles and access will be provided only to authorized personnel. Log of the personnel entering restricted areas is also maintained.

CANTEEN
S.C.Readers with printer attached can dispense coupons. A preset number of meals or refreshments can be stored on the card. Every time the student uses the card, this value can be decremented and the transaction is stored on the reader. This eliminates the keeping track of accounts and all the related paperwork.

ATTENDANCE
When the cards are shown to the SCRs, they store the identity number, date and time on the reader. This eliminates the time taking process of marking the attendance redundant. The back end software, Manmeter will generate all the necessary reports. The attendance data can be interfaced with other software like payroll, personnel management and leaves.

LIBRARY
The Library can store the details of the books taken and the charges for the same.
